There’s nothing truly natural about changing your nose. The term “natural” is a euphemistic word, but as it relates to rhinoplasty, it refers to surgery to the nose that doesn’t look as if the nose has been altered. There are far too many rhinoplasties that result in noses that clearly look  “revised.” My goal is to make you look like you were born with a beautiful nose, not that I operated on you to get that. There are some subtle differences that can make your nose look beautiful and natural.

What are the things that make rhinoplasties look operated upon?

There are many reasons that can make a nose look operated upon. Number one, is that the surgeon takes too much out of the bridge of the nose and the nose looks too scooped. It’s because it’s be over-resected. Number two, the surgeon might narrow the nose too much, making it appear pinched. Number three, is when a surgeon shortens the nose too much. When the nose is  over-shortened you can see the nostrils, and that’s unnatural. The fourth reason is a little more subtle, but I see a lot with rhinoplasty surgeons that don’t understand the operation. In attempting to narrow the tip, they take too much out. This scores it up in the air resulting in a big gap between the columella and the alar rim. This makes us see up and into the nostrils.

What are the secrets to natural rhinoplasty?

The secret to natural rhinoplasty is to be conservative and not overdo any of the above mentioned mistakes. Subtlety goes a long way. If you look at the rhinoplasties that I’ve performed, check out Dr. Jonathan Sykes on Instagram, you’ll see the changes in the before and after pictures.

But we don’t walk around with our before-picture. We don’t walk around saying, “Look at what I looked like between then and now.” If you just look at the after-pictures on my site, you’ll notice that my patients do not look like they’ve had surgery. They have very pretty noses that look natural to their face. When they look at their before-picture, they can see that their faces look better overall, not just their nose. The eyes look better, their mouth looks better, and that’s really what you want in a rhinoplasty.

What patients often do when they come into my office, is they bring me a picture out of a magazine, or show me one in their phone, of the most gorgeous person and they tell me that they want their nose. Of course they like the nose of a model who has phenomenal eyes, a beautiful smile and beautiful teeth. It’s not just the nose that is making them beautiful. It’s that their nose is in balance with their face and all their other features. What we want for our patients is for their new nose to blend in with their own features. We look at their smile, we look at the eyes, and we look at the bone structure, which are the features that make people look attractive.

How much does a natural rhinoplasty cost?

I only do one kind of rhinoplasty and it’s always natural. I’m all about enhancing the face and making my patients look like they were born with that nose. For that, my costs are about fifteen thousand dollars in Beverly Hills, all in. That includes the anesthesiologist, the operating room and my fees. There are lots of surgeons in Beverly Hills that charge a lot more, but I feel comfortable with this fee. If I do a revision operation, it costs more because usually I have to get cartilage from somewhere else.

I look forward to seeing you and your nose, and hearing what you’d like to achieve. Call me, email me, email my office. We will be very responsive to you and I’d love to see you. Thanks a lot.
